Netflix's 'Never Have I Ever' is finishing with Season 4, however will it get a spinoff series? Mindy Kaling and Fabiola actor Lee Rodriguez weigh in.
When it comes to school, being sexy and confused is solely a part of the gig. Trying to be common and suck face with populars are two of an important issues to maximum pubescent teens, and Never Have I Ever's Devi Vishwakumar (Maitreyi Ramakrishnan) knows this all too smartly. See, the Indian American teenager determined to make sophomore year of highschool her yr, and that got here with the promise that she'd do whatever it takes to pop her cherry (her phrases, no longer ours).
After 3 successful seasons and an upcoming fourth season, Never Have I Ever is unfortunately achieving its finish. Understandably, these actors are aging, and the creators didn't want it to seem like 30-year-olds were going to school. This isn't the CW, people.
But just because Never Have I Ever is ending, that does not mean the universe is final its curtains. Will there be a spinoff series? Distractify spoke completely with Lee Rodriguez, who plays Fabiola, about the chances.
Will 'Never Have I Ever' get a spinoff series? Actor Lee Rodriguez weighs in.
By the top of Season 4, each Never Have I Ever persona's story involves a fulfilling close. But as we all know, there is no such factor as "happily ever after." Our favorite characters may be off to college, but that doesn't imply that their lives are over! We requested Lee if she may just see a spinoff in Never Have I Ever's long run.
"I thought about that," she admitted. "I think if there were to be a spinoff, personally, I'd love to see an Eleanor and Trent spinoff. Because they're my favorite couple. And maybe Fabiola could pop in here and there like, 'Hey, what's up?' but yeah, I'd be down." Who would we need to see? Honestly, Devi's antics at Princeton may principally be like Legally Blonde meets Sex Lives of College Girls and we're occupied with it.
And in keeping with co-creator Mindy Kaling, anything else's possible—despite the fact that she didn't recall to mind the speculation till it was dropped at her consideration.
"In the beginning, I thought, 'Oh, I could do this show forever and ever,' but then you see these kids and it's scary how old they look by the end of the season. Then you wait a year to shoot again, and you're like, 'Oh, this is why high school shows wrap it up in four seasons,'" she told PopSugar in an interview.
She persisted, "When [showrunner Lang Fisher] suggested, 'What if we try to do all of their storylines in four years?' It really did end up making sense." Mindy concept she'd be announcing goodbye to Devi and all of her liked various characters. But huh, a spinoff you say?
"Oh my gosh. Absolutely. I absolutely would consider doing that if there was a demand," she explained. "I've never thought about a spinoff actually. It's a fun thought experiment, but I haven't actually thought of one."
As for which persona she'd imagine for a spinoff series, she favored Trent (Benjamin Norris).
"Honestly, he's so funny to me," she said. "He really makes me laugh, so finding out [more about] Trent and seeing what his haircare routine is every morning. I would definitely watch that show. I'd definitely like to write that show."
This is just a thought though, one who Mindy reputedly hasn't given much thought to yet (she's a busy lady). But hey, never say never.
All 4 seasons of Never Have I Ever are currently streaming on Netflix.
