What's a "college bed party"?

The "college bed party" trend is when a family decorates a future faculty pupil's bed with merch from the college they are going to attend.

It's kind of like the trend where college hopefuls movie their very own reactions to finding out if they got authorized or rejected to their dream faculties, except for there is no rejection right here — simply natural happiness.

The party — which will either be a marvel or can involve the student in the making plans — extends to beyond the school-specific swag, with households hanging out all kinds of goodies from cakes to different various snacks that normally follow the school's colour scheme.

The trend started during the pandemic, when excited soon-to-be co-eds who had been caught at house decided to deck out their beds with their future faculty's equipment and put up the footage online as some way to percentage and celebrate the news.

As with most issues, even though, some households take things a liiiittle past. The Wall Street Journal talked to one family in New York that shelled out $3K for a mattress birthday party to rejoice their daughter's acceptance to the University of Alabama.

Either means, it sort of feels like social media audience are just taking part in the wholesomeness on their TikTok feeds.

One TikTok commenter wrote under a long term UCLA pupil's video: "I love this. Wish my family did this when I made my decision to be a Bruin, but I will definitely make this a part of my future plans for my kids."
