The second season of Shadow and Bone is after all here, and with it, plenty of magical thrills and twists. While the story essentially follows the Sun Summoner, Alina Starkov (Jessie Mei Li), an infinite array of fellow Grisha lend a hand in her quest to finish the Shadow Fold, including the Durast, David Kostyk (Luke Pasqualino).

What happened to David in 'Shadow and Bone'?

During Season 1 of Shadow and Bone, David used his Durast abilities to craft more than one units to assist Alina harness her magic, together with a glove that would lend a hand her replicate gentle better. However, in Episode 8, it used to be printed he betrayed Alina by means of serving to the Darkling/General Kirigan (Ben Barnes) create a formidable amplifier that would hyperlink their powers in perpetuity and flip Alina into a puppet.

David also had a mutual romantic hobby in Genya (Daisy Head) throughout the time they both resided at the Little Palace, however their feelings remained unexpressed. For most of Season 2, David is missing in action, having escaped after Alina defeated the Darkling in the Shadow Fold. When he returns for Genya, he realizes that the Darkling is previous the point of redemption for his actions, and the pair attempt to flee to sign up for Alina. Instead, the Darkling has been looking forward to them, and he captures Genya whilst David escapes.

Genya is tortured for her betrayal of the Darkling, resulting in deep scars and the loss of an eye fixed, whilst David makes his way to Alina. When the pair in any case reunite, they start a romantic relationship. David asks Genya what her favourite stone is, and they get ready to fight in opposition to the Darkling.

Does David die in 'Shadow and Bone'?

At one level throughout the battle, David convinces Genya to disguise in a dumbwaiter and seals it in the back of her because the Darkling's monsters, Nichevo’ya, attack them. When she's after all released, she notices blood splatter on the wall and realizes that David has died. On a sheet of paper close by, she reveals a comic strip of a ring with a ruby, the favourite stone she mentioned earlier. Genya deduces David was once going to propose and breaks down.

Sadly, David's fate is identical in the books, even if he lives much longer. David's dying does not arrive till a Fjerdian attack on his wedding day to Genya in the guide Rule of Wolves, one of two spin-off novels from the original Shadow and Bone collection about the adventures of Nikolai.

While enthusiasts are sad that David is long gone, his and Genya's quiet love story has always been a fan-favorite. Shadow and Bone Seasons 1 and 2 are now streaming exclusively on Netflix.
